WG 3: Nanomaterials and Nano-Assembled Materials

Chair: Daniele Pullini (CRF)

Under construction!

Highlights

  • The presentation of the WG 3 priorities has been issued. See documents below

Scope and objective of this WG

This will include materials issues related to the following:

  • Multifunctional (sensing, actuation, low-friction and anti-wearing, improved wettability for painting, etc.) nano-assembled materials for components and micro-systems: focus on improving properties of existing materials, novel functions, modelling, low cost solutions;
  • Functional packaging materials for MST: focus on nano-assembled materials for high temperature operation (up to 600°C), nanoassembled materials fabrication – from lab to plant.
  • Recyclable high performance polymer nano-composites (biocomposite and ), Metal Matrix materials and advanced metal-polymer-ceramic composites;
  • Engineered nanostructured surfaces, focus on modelling of mechanical and tribological properties from nanostructuring;
  • Low cost fabrication of coatings for harsh environments (very high temperature(600°C), strongly oxidizing, highly wearing); particular attention on single material coatings (single element or alloy);
  • Modelling of quantum-properties of nanostructures such as nanowires and CNT, nanorods, nanoparticles. Microsystems including nano-objects of novel functionality.
